Possible routes

Hi, just wondering if anyone has some suggestions on possible routes to travel around Thailand. I'm looking to stay for around six weeks and would like to do as much as possible but am unsure on where to go?????????

Just a guess but you may get more info if you would trouble to indicate how much money you have to spend and perhaps something about what interests you.

Yeah, this question will be better answered with more information, like how old you are, what you like and dislike. But I'll take a guess that you are a young male travelling to thailand for the first time, and say this -

Khoasan Road (Rambuttri) - Koh Phangan - maybe Koh Tao - back to Bangkok - Kanchanaburi - Bangkok - Auyuthaya - Chiang Mai - Pai - Chiang Khong - Pakbeng - Luang Prabang - Vang Vieng (try not to be the next person to drown a drunken death tubing) - Vientianne - Bangkok.

For further inspiration - try here.

Can just as easily answered by reading posts here. Theres definitely no shortage of them. After all, we're not here to plan others holidays for them.

Sure, I can come up with a route. Bangkok, Surin, Ubon Ratchatani, Khon Khaen, Udon Thani, Chiang Mai, Nan, Chiang Rai, Mae Tang to Mae Hong Son, Mae Sariang, Chiang Mai, Bangkok.

These sort of "I have X weeks in Thailand tell me what to do" posts usually don't get useful responses. Suggest you read up on some travel websites or guidebooks and narrow down the questions. What are your interests? Beaches, trekking, temples, food, watersports, markets, shopping, etc. What kind of daily budget do you have in mind? Be more specific and you'll get better info.

This free chapter from the current LP Guide to Thailand has some itineraries with maps: http://media.lonelyplanet.com/shop/pdfs/thailand-14-contents.pdf

Thanks for the input to the people who helped with my question. it's actually helped me to begin planning. And thank you Westwood your comment was extremely helpful to somebody who hasn't experienced travelling yet and is new to it. So thanks for your understanding!

Of course we're not here to plan other peoples' holidays for them, but in fairness, Waller didn't ask for that, he asked for suggestions for possible routes, which is not an unreasonable request, particularly for someone who is new to travelling and also new to this forum and who doesn't realise that straying onto this forum unaware you make yourself shark bait for people who just want to criticise the unwary to make make themselves feel... whatever they need to feel!?

Anyway, my reply at #2 was a little facetious, but also serious in that this was more or less the route that I took when I was a young male and my first time to Thailiand. I would also add, from Pai - Mae Hong Son - Mae Seriang - back to Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai - then Chiang Khong.

No need to go back to Bangkok and then out to Kanchanaburi. Get off the train at Nakhon Pathom and get the train from Bangkok as it passes through.

Well done Westwood for a) not taking the bait; and b) being constructive :)

Rats and mice take bait-- I'm neither.

Oh, and if someone shows they've made an effort, I'm more than happy to help.
