Traveling in The UKHI,
My family and I are planning and trip to London next June/July, and we have no idea where to start.
Does anyone have and ideas or suggestions on other countries that we are able to visit via train or car? or destinations that are close. I would like to see the maximum Europe has to offer around London. I know Paris is 2.5 hours by train and that is a must, what about MIlan? Prague? Instanbul? Slovenia? places like that...
What about Russia, • Sweden
• The Channel Islands
• The Netherlands
Thank you for your time in advance.

1Google is a fine thing when trying to find out travel times.
You also don't say how long you're on holiday for. You're planning a trip to London but seem hell bent on getting out of London as quickly as you can. Surely it would be cheaper to therefore fly into Paris if that is a "must"?
I also have no idea why you want to go to Milan. Istanbul is in Turkey in case you were unaware.
What about Prague, Slovenia, Russia, Sweden etc do you want to know exactly?

It's the same problem you have with the post you stuck on the W Europe branch. 1 - we don't know any of your interests, nor the time period, nor the time of the year, nor the size of the group (including ages), nor the budget. :-)
I suggest you start with a guidebook to look for inspiration. Lonely Planet does some good ones. Try Western Europe: Multi Country Guide or Europe on a shoestring to get you started.
Because Europe has 740 million people and is also quite sizeable, between us we can offer pretty much everything you want, from world famous art, to outstanding music, to some good beaches, volcanos, surfing, hiking, several thousand year old cities, prehistoric sites, fashion, sport, festivals, mountaineering, sailing, great food, the list goes on.

6Hey OP, you have a right old mix of places on the list there, some countries, some cities. As many others have said I wouldn't be sure where to start. Paris you can get to on a direct train quite quickly. The channel islands obviously not (I would hope obviously). The Netherlands need at least one change of train, the rest several. Milan, not even sure why you want to go there. Turin is as close and in my opinion more interesting. Russia, where do you want to go, it is one of the biggest countries on the planet, the farthest side from Europe is nearly halfway around the world. 2.5 hours from london on the train will get you to Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, Brussels, Paris. Anywhere else will take a lot longer. 2.5 hours on the plane will get you to Central and Eastern Europe, Southern Italy, Greece, Southern Spain, possibly North Africa. Really do some research.
