Vietnam airlines
Hello everybody,I booked my flight with Vietnam Airlines and choose to pay E50,- more and not fly with Laos Airlines for own safety reasons/feelings. There was no notification on the website during booking (I was comparing the two on their own websites). Turned out that Vietnam Airlines put me on an airplain of Laos Airlines without consulting. Went to the office on Vientiane airport and I didn't got any service at al. They couldn't refund the money difference (if I wanted to fly with Laos Airlines I would have booked the E50,- cheaper flight), they wouldn't upgrade my seat or call to the headquaters in Vietnam. What should I do? I'm not sure if an email to the headquaters is going to help. Also went tot the office of Laos Airlines and even they couldn;t do anything, I got more service there. I desided to take the flight and am very pleased about Lao Airlines. Next time I am going to fly with them again.
Thank you very much in advance!

It's called a code share flight and it's a common practice with the majority of airlines around the world. Next time you book, on any airline, click on the "flight details" before you confirm your purchase - you should be able to see if the flight is provided by a partner airline. There's no recourse that I know of for you to get the difference reimbursed, although you probably would have been able to cancel the flight and re-book with Laos, assuming the cancellation fee was not higher than the savings. Lessons learned !I flew twice on Laos Airlines (both times on their twin prop ATRs for short hop flight) and found them OK too.
