Paris to Morocco

Hello All :) --
I'm starting to plan out my itinerary from Paris to Morocco. I will be living in Paris for 4 months and then would like to head south.
Here are the facts:
--I have 3 weeks
--I would like to travel mainly by train
--So far my plans are 5 days in Paris (a friend is meeting me there), take a train to Avignon, where I will spend 5 more days.
Now here is my main concern. I have been trying to figure out the fastest route to Morocco from Avignon (avoiding flying if possible). It seems as though I will have to take a train to Marseille or another large connecting city to get in to Spain. I was thinking of stopping in ONE city in Spain before or after Morocco, especially if I have to transfer multiple times to get to Morocco from Avignon. I'm planning on spending 5 days to one week in Morocco.
How can I find the routes between trains to Morocco? Which city in Spain is easiest/fastest to take a ferry to Tangier? Is there a specific website that makes looking up such questions easier?

This question is mainly the BEST way to look up different routes in and out of the cities and between countries, not what to do what to see or which cities i should spend time in. Thanks!

Tarifa or Algeciras. But other ferry routes to Tangier exist, including one from Sete from France. See http://www.directferries.co.uk/tangier_ferry.htm and cross reference with a map.

More comfortable solution: train. Avignon dp 15.40 - Port Bou 19.24/19.40 - Madrid Chamartin 7.21/7.41 - Madrid Atocha 7.54/8.35 - Algeciras 13.48/16.00 - Tanger Med ar 16.30

ferry Sete - Tanger
ferry Barcelona - Tanger

I also love trains and I understand that you prefer not to fly. So, just some food for thought maybe:AirArabia has inexpensive direct flights to Marrakech, Fez, Nador and Casa from Montpellier (1 hour by train from Avignon)

Faster and probably cheaper than trains and ferries. And you will have more time to spend inside Morocco itself.
But if your journey is about travelling by train, then by all means go for the train.

How can I find the routes between trains to Morocco?There aren't trains from Europe to Morocco. Therefore in the web of Bahn linked by Fwoggie in #1, type as destinations train stations in Spanish cities where you can take a ferry to Morocco (Algeciras, AlmerÃa and Barcelona).
Which city in Spain is easiest/fastest to take a ferry to Tangier?
Algeciras and Tarifa. There isn't a train station in Tarifa (you would need to take a bus from Algeciras) but ferries out of Tarifa arrive to the port in Tangier itself while ferries out of Algeciras arrive at Tangier MED port.

Two questions: How many time would you have for that city? What's your arrival point in France on your way back?
