Best Thai beach islands for hiking?

Hi Thorn Tree folks,

I'm going to spend time in Northern Thailand and then have about 4-5 days at the end of my trip and want to go via Bangkok to 1 or more islands (easy to get to) that I can hike as well.

We are not a super beach bums, but would like to spend about 3-4 days on 1-2 islands in Thailand that have excellent hiking opportunities as well.

We don't want to spend too much time traveling there, but if it's worth it, we will.

Ideas? Tips?

Go to Khao lak Phang Nga province , you can fly from Bangkok to Phuket and catch bus or minivan to Khao Lak.
Visit Khao sok at Surat Thani province this is not the beach it's like lake but beautiful much , you also can buy a day trip to Moo Koh Ang Tong for the beach or visit Samui.
check it out both places.
http://www.khaosok-treehouse.com/index.html, for Khao sok better to book in advance if you didn't come like a group (it might save your budget).

Ko Tarutao. You can hike 10 - 20 km there. It's totally undeveloped.

Koh Kood if you don't mind a steep hill here and there ;-)
