Russia - Christmas & New Years
Hi,Any ideas about what would be the best places to be for Christmas and New Years in Russia. I will around the Lake Baikal area or further east.
Also, any comments on whether the "Trans-Siberian" vs "Russia" lonely planet is better for a trip heading from Moscow east (maily via train, but only in Russia)

There is no best place. Western Xmas is unlikely to be celebrated in the Lake Baikal area or further east so if you are looking for a traditional western Christmas, best place is probably a hostel in Irkutsk where you might find other foreigners.Regarding which edition. Try the public library and compare the two versions. The TransSiberian might have more about Ulan Bator and Beijing than you want but for east of Baikal, they are probably about the same. Me, I would get whichever is cheaper.
