Desert Expeditions from MarrakechHello,
My husband and I will spend 6 days in Marrakech and are hoping to do a camel trek to camp in the desert.
Can anyone who has done this make some recommendations (best prices, companies, things to bring, how long to go for etc..) I know when we are there we will be able to see many options, but I wanted to get some ideas before.
We were thinking we would just go for one night, but is 2 or 3 nights better?
Also, can anyone recommend another day or 1 night trip from Marrakech (like into the mountains or coast?)

1One-night trip: Essaouira.
Desert: do not leave from Marrakech. You will be jammed into a van for a long trip to/from the Merzouga area. Instead, rent a car and drive there, or take a bus. Then ask at you local hotel there for a recommendation on a desert trip. One night may be enough...two or three can be a bit much. And the desert will be cold this time of year. Such a trip will take about 4 days, using up most of your six days.
Beware the PMs you may get from touts seeking business.

3If you have 6 days only, stay in Marrakech and do some trip around, to essaouira as mentioned etc.
But to the desert, it is not enough. 1 night in the desert is not enough, at least 2 nights. One night you can stay at hotel, other night in the sand dunes. But only to come to the desert, stay over and go back, it is waste of time in such case :) and you can not enjoy, not see anything of the desert neither. Therefore it is worth more than only one night (and "basta" LOL).

4You have seen everything in Marrakech in 2/3 days.
A nice day trip would be to Ourika Valley, but be aware that there is a lot of climbing involved! The view is beautiful though..
If you want to go to the desert, go to Ribat Tours, near the Jemaa El Fna (www.ribatours.com).
You can book a 2/3 day trip for example. If you need any advise, ask for Badr, he will definitely help you!
