Hi there,I would like to know from travelers or locals if it's possible to hire a motorbike and travel around the island of Negros. Has anyone done this trip before or know of any websites or forums that they can direct me to.
any help would be appreciated.

I paid 300p/day in Dumaguete for 2 days last April/May, it would be interesting to find out if they would do it cheaper for long term. (1 week or more)4
Thats great news, you replies are much appreciated. Thanks for the link to your blog surfboy. We are heading over to Negros from Bantayan Island. Any highlights that are a must see?5
There's a nice ride from Dumaguete up to Twin Lakes that I liked, both coastal and mountain scenery.7
Yes, as above just head to OK Pension and 3 or 4 rental places there. Normal daily rate is now 350 php for 24 hours but if you rent for a week or more Im sure you can reduce that. Check the bike carefully first as quaility varies greatly. Nice things to see around Dumaguete, Twin Lakes, Casaroro Falls, Forest Camp, Hot Springs near Dauin, Duain Beach etc..8
you could also rent in Cebu and take it over on the ferry, so long as you do of course factor in that you have to get a ferry back to return it. The guy at Caesar's Cafe in Toledo, western Cebu rents out bikes for 350 per day, this is convenient for the San Carlos ferry. Paul Whiteway at cebuexpatservices.com will deliver to your hotel in metro Cebu area for longer lets, then you can drive over the mountain for the western Cebu ferries to Negros that leave from Tabuelan - Toledo - Dumanjug.but Dumaguete could be a better bet for you as 300 for a bike is very cheap these days though, that is now the bottom price for bike rental in the Philippines.

One of the best Bike rides in the Philippines is the Eco Tourism highway in Negros. It starts at San Carlos and crosses the mountains to Bacolod. You will see a bit of everything on the trip, a few chocolate hills, some rice terraces, stunning mountain views, pine trees at summit level. Its an awesome ride you`ll love it. The trip takes about 6 hours.or more if you like to stop. You can find food and acommodation along the way.
You can get a bike in Dumaguete, be happy and negotiate a deal, make sure everything works on the bike, you`ll need it. Prob need a raincoat too.
About an hour outside Duma there are some mango vendors on the side of the highway, 40php a kilo if they are in season, best roadside snack ever. Best mangos in the world.

#9, I'm liking that, looking for another trip by bike, I enjoyed my last one so much. I'm considering circling Negros as well. Would you think the Eco Tourism highway is better traveled east-west or opposite? A little mountain scenery would break things up.12
That eco tourism highway sounds very interesting, do you think it would be possible to do it in one day starting from dumaguete? I see you said its only 6 hours, would that be one way? so 12 hours round trip?Is it kind of like a loop?
I googled it and all i could find was some pictures, beautiful pics tho http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1565099

I went east to west. I haven't done the circle back to Dumaguete yet. It's slow going, careful on the mountain curves. Try google maps.Edited by: bikepacker
