Wow. Wobegon is at it again. "Not hype. Understated. The U.S. Department of State travel warning is the most accurate information available. Based on facts, not fiction." This state department warning is good for those planning to deal drugs, or hit on the drug gang's women. And it is most useful for government employees, another potential target of the drug wars. But it provides no useful information for travelers, and effectively has nothing to do with typical tourism. And to think that the government takes our money to pay these oafs putting out such nonsense.

or hit on the drug gang's women

To be fair, I've heard that Bill is the master of this so I can see how he might have found the warnings a bit on the mild side while getting out of Dodge-oacan after his last misadventure...

Some people can not cope with positive information about Michoacan. It's like, "Let no good news about MIchoacan go unpunished."

Michocan violence

To be real, Apatzingan is crawling with police, marinos, and machine guns. Seems like somebody is getting killed. Not gringos, but personnel in the drug delivery chain to the USA. Just remember there is blood on some of that stuff.

Back in 2006, Apatzingan came to the national spotlight with severed heads were thrown into a strip-club at 3am in the morning. In 2010, the town saw major cartel leaders captured and thrown in jail. Not much has happened recently in Apatzingan, until last month when there was a UFO sighting and GLOBAL UFO SKYWATCH was notified.
