Bus schedule updated
Just been to Bulgaria. Here I share some updated bus schedule.From Sofia to Rila Monastery: A daily direct bus deparsfrom Ovcha Kupel bus station at 10:20am. It will have a 20-minute stop in Rila village. You will arrive the monastery at 1pm. A direct return bus departs outside the monastery at 3pm. I took it in the end of November. A tourist office staff claimed that this bus schedule is valid throughout winter.
From Veliko Tarnovo to Plovdiv: Two buses daily at 8am and 1:30pm depart from Zapad bus station. It takes 4.5 hours.
From Plovdiv to Veliko Tarnovo: Two buses daily at 8:30am and 1:30am depart from the north bus station (Sever).
I highly recommend Hostel Mostel in Veliko Tarnovo. The dorm price includes breakfast and dinner. I love their breakfast with their home-made jam made with the fruits from their garden. I bought 2 bottles home. But the same hostel chain in Plovdiv doesn't have the same quality of breakfast and dinner.

I have never stayed in any Hostel Mostel in Bulgaria, but have met many people who have and they say the one in Sofia is best. I only ever stayed in a hostel once and it just wasn't for me.2
