Dubai trip for 16 days
Hi, everyone! I'll be visiting my relatives in Dubai for about two weeks (Dec 18 - Jan 2) and was wondering if you had any suggestions for my itinerary. My mom and uncle have been working there for about two years now, so I don't have to worry about accommodations and such. I'm very interested in architecture and photography! So far my mom and I have decided to do the desert safari, skiing, and burj khalifa; I figure with two weeks I have a lot of time to get to know Dubai, so I'd appreciate off-the-beaten path suggestions.1
For architecture and photography, check out Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab & JBH, Dubai Marina, Emirates Towers, Madinat Jumeirah, the Dusit Hotel & the Creek. If there's fog, early morning shots of fog enveloping skyscrapers can be good, although the chance of fog in December/Jan are quite low. Satwa High Street, Al Fahidi Street and the areas around the Dhow Wharf in Deira can be good for shots of people and shops.3
With such a long stay try to get out of the city a little. Look into a boat ride through the musandam peninsula in Oman. It's not very expensive.4
I'll ask my mom if we can visit. We're planning to visit Abu Dhabi and the grand mosque, too. Thanks for the suggestion! :D5
i'd also recommend a boat tour on Captain Jack's Cruises from Dubai marina - it's short and fairly cheap, and it will enable you to get excellent shots of the Dubai Marina skyline, the Burj Al Arab and the Palm from the Ocean.
