I Want To Help!
I'm looking for any information on volunteering abroad that anyone may have that doesn't involve thousands of dollars of payments. If I had any money I wouldn't mind spending it so that my small family of three could travel abroad and help communities that need people with skills like mine and my husbands but alas I can hardly afford to pay my own bills. My particular continent of choice would be Africa, but really anywhere works. I've got 2 years nursing experience, 1 year of veterinary experience, 4 years of horticulture experience, and I grew up my whole life around construction so I've got that under my belt as well. My husband has 4 years of construction experience and 3 years of welding experience. We are tired of sitting around wasting our time when we'd want our time to go towards helping people. The only community programs for volunteering my area has is church programs that only care about converting people. Any information is greatly appreciated! Thanks!2

At various times in the past we have facilitated groups of people to go to Uganda to do voluntary work on school buildings (there was no question of fees: I can't remember whether we paid for their air tickets or they did). One of our flagship projects, Food for Thought, involves providing training in farming (and perhaps horticulture) to primary schools and hence to the communities they serve.
