Split - Hvar

Hello all

I'm looking to arrange a stag do next June (I know, you're probably thinking argh stags! but we all go on them!) and I was thinking that Croatia would be a cool interesting place to go.

I’m thinking about booking a large villa on the outskirts of split or on Hvar.

What's the nightlife like in Split and Hvar?

What are current prices like for food and alcohol?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Best,

Richard

Great. Many thanks.

Friends of mine went to the north east of Crotia earlier this year and were paying around £1 for a pint of beer in a local bar and £5 for a meal in a restaurant. Would Split/ Hvar be in a similiar price range?

Is June a good time to go or would Split/ Hvar be a bit quiet?

Best wishes and many thanks.

Richard

Hi,

First of all you must know that Hvar is more expensive than the rest of Croatia (example: entrance in a club is 20 euros in Hvar and normaly in Cratia is 5 euros if there is entrance fee) also food and drink prices are very high there. Most of Croats go there of a day or two due to prices.

Split is an average Croatian big citym you can find a beer for 1 euro but only at outskirts normally it costs around 1.5-2 euros in a bar and 3 euro in a club. You can have pizza for 6-7 euros, sandwiches starts at 2 up to 3.5 for burgers and similar. A proper meal would be around 10 euros without drink. But I must say that I now live at the south of France and that meals in Croatia are a lot bigger than those here so it is a good value of money for size and quality of food.

June is a bit too early but in Split you should have a good night life, especially during weekends.

Many thanks.

We'll be going over a weekend.

So Split is cheaper and will be busier in June. Is it easy to go to Hvar for one night from Spit? Or will it not be worth it in June?

Apart from Split, are there any other cities you would recommend in Croatia near beaches with good nightlife?

Best wishes

Rich.

That's interesting. I would say it's the opposite.

The island of Brač has some decent nightlife and beaches. You might check out Zrce, Vodice and Primosten too. The quality of nightlife will depend on the date of your arrival- the later, the better.

I will just warn you that prices have gone quite a lot in the last few years, so don't expect some cheap holiday.

For 10 euros you can get decent meal + drink, but it can easily go up to 20. It's almost impossible to buy 0.5 of beer for 1 EUR nowadays.
