Haifa (sleeping on the cheaper end)

Hello, I will be spending a few days in the Haifa area, and making day trips out from there. I need to find a place to stay that is quite cheap, since I will be traveling for close to a month, and don't have much funds. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I am quite fine with staying in not classy places if they are safe and relatively clean.
Cheap places to eat would be lovely as well,

Haifa's Port Inn has to be considered for your appraisal in that case. If sleeping in their dorms breakfasts are an extra, but they do have a kitchen for self caterers

i don't know anyplace in haifa cheaper than the port inn, and they're not so cheap either...if you find something else i'd love to hear about it! thanks, and good luck.
