anyone ever ride on Thai Regional Airlines?Hello.
I plan to go to Bangkok and Phuket in February 2013, considering to take the plane from Phuket to Bangkok. Thai Regional Airlines offers a cheap rate, 1000BHT from one-way flight from Phuket to Bangkok. has anyone ever ride on this airlines? i googled and not many review on this one. kinda doubt the safety actually. should i take the plane or better ride by bus?
thanks in advance for your reply. :)

Not many. Thai Regional Airlines (patently untrue slogan: "We Fly Everywhere") has only been in business since last August.
In the US, flying a given distance is 190 times safer than driving that distance. Commercial aviation is technically held to the same standard, but OK, it is the Third World: let's say that Thai Regional Airlines is twice as likely to crash as, say, Delta.
But driving in Thailand is roughly 7 times as dangerous as flying in the US.
So taking the bus once is roughly as dangerous as flying 665 times.
To put it another way, if you do fly, you are about 15 times more likely to be killed on the ride to the airport than in the plane.

3I'm a bit worried too; not for any safety reasons, but rather because the airline has cancelled flights shortly before they're due to take place without giving any reason. This particular aspect is documented on the Wikipedia site at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_Regional_Airlines
Also, I spoke to my Thai girlfriend this morning and she told me that the flight she had booked with them on 26 December has now been cancelled. The reason given to her was that the airline didn't have permission to conduct certain flights within Thailand.
This leaves me in a bit of a quandry since I have a flight booked with them in March next year departing Bangkok to Phuket. In my particular case, I'll be arriving in BKK after a long haul flight and don't want to have to deal with a sudden cancellation after an 11 hour flight!
The TRA deal was attractive because it saved me the drag of having to take a one hour bus trip from Suvarnabhumi to Don Mueang in order to take a budget flight with either AirAsia or Nok Air, but maybe I'll have to consider doing that now.
@ itsdee, when is your flight due to take place? In the beginning of Feb, or towards the end?

4DO NOT ever ride with Thai Regional Airlines!!!! I purchased my flight tickets through them last year November. In the beginning of December, i got an email from them notifying all the customers that they will cancel all the flights scheduled from December 2012 to March 2013. It not only left me scrambling to buy another ticket last minute, until today i have not received my refund!!! i have been emailing them to complain every other week. No one from the company even bother to reply. They are a such scammer! Take customers' money and disappear!!! Unbelievable, I don't know how possible they can run their business like this????
