Has anyone else registered for IRCTC THROUGH cleartrip? Having problems!!

Hi everyone, so I recently followed seat61's guide to booking indian trains from overseas. I registered for my IRCTC account THROUGH cleartrip, because it gives you the option to- big mistake.

I'm now registered with IRCTC, but unable to log in because I don't know the password. I thought it might be the email OTP but I can't use either of the ones I've been sent. And Cleartrip only register your username- they don't ask ANYTHING else IRCTC actually want to know when you register like a security question (could have just used "forgot my password" in that case), or my DOB, leading to a few emails being exchanged just to confirm my identity.

Emailing cleartrip was just as useless as IRCTC. I have another email and thought stuff it I'll just make a new account under that-- it says my email is invalid. I'm trying to book trains in over a month and they're already on waitlist so I'm in a hurry and have no idea how to fix this, short of emailing irctc back and forth and waiting hours each time for a useless reply.

Does ANYONE know how to fix this issue? Do I just need a new email and mobile OTP sent to me to log in for the first time?

I sympathise Steph, it took me about 2 weeks before I got everything working. But doesn't it feel good when you finally get to book a ticket?!

It would have been nice if you explained HOW you got fixed everything because I'm struggling with the same problems for a while now.

.Persistance and patience - I sent email after email to both IRCTC and Cleartrip, giving them all the info I had on an assortment of OTPs and the dates I'd received them, and pleading for help.

Several email exchanges (and 2 weeks) later, I had a pair of working OTPs and linked Cleartrip & IRCTC accounts.

Don't give up hope yet!

I knew it! I couldn`t be the only facing so many troubles in registering with Cleartrip and IRCTC from abroad! So far its been more than a week trying, exchanging e-mails and phone calls with customer service with no results! After my first failed attempt I tried using a different e-mail and got to the same dead end. When trying to synchronize cleartrip with IRCTC it says the mobile OTP is invalid (and yes, I`ve sent a copy of my passport).
The cleartrip customer service told me to try registering a third(!) e-mail and that does it for me, I give up! So my question is, does any one know if it is possible to do bookings for train travel in India from abroad (I`m in Dubai, UAE) through travel agencies?

Update: I just found out that it is possible indeed to make a train travel booking for India through a travel agency here in Dubai, UAE. Therefore I give up trying to using the cleartrip/IRCTC websites. I must say these websites were the most complicated and frustrating experience I have ever encountered when planning my trips. A whole week exchanging e-mails and phone calls ended up in a dead end and I have no idea what went wrong as I followed all the instructions carefully.
It was easy to find out through an internet search that dozens of people experience the same problems when trying to register with cleartrip/IRCTC from abroad. It is a shame that both websites have not been made more userfriendly after so many complains.
