Overnight train or coach Chiang Rai/Mai to Hanoi

Hey could anyone please tell me of any good websites I can book an overnight train from Chiang Rai or nearby to Hanoi, then Hanoi to Bangkok? Thanks!

First off you need a map and see the location of Chiang Rai and Hanoi and then you need to look at a good site like seat61 and see exactly in SEA where the trains go.

Thank youu it's a great site just doesn't seem to do any direct trains to Hanoi from Northern Thailand, I might have to look into air travel!

yep, airtravel would be OK, but if you have the time, it is possible to go from Chiang Rai to Honoi through Northern Laos by slow boat/bus/public transport/jeep etc. It would be a fantastic trip.

OP, I dont know what made you think there'd be a train line going from Northern Thailand through Laos to Hanoi seeing Laos doesnt have now or ever did have, a railway system. Even Cambodias rail line is no longer in use though it is being upgraded to recommence. And Thailand trains stop short of the border.
Having done the Vientiane-Hanoi overland, its a long slog. Not for the fainthearted.

Some people really should take a look at a map first!

And I thought I was geographically challenged.

This is not aimed at the OP but, there have been posters on here that must struggle to find their way out the bedroom in a morning never mind get themselves to the other side of the world.

Railway map here (Doh!)
Although Chiang Mai and Hanoi look close on a map they are very far apart by any land transport. The terrain is rough, there is no railway link, and by bus takes at least 2 days. Air Asia flight via Bangkok or Lao Airlines flight via Luang Prabang are worth considering.

And some of us are visually impaired, so don't assume anything about anyone. Some people on here might have learning difficulties.

Op, your best bet would be to fly from Luang Prabang.

#9 please don't take offence at my previous post, it was simply referring to a phrase. I never assume, but sometimes people ask questions on here through idleness without doing a little research themselves.

No problem. I have to say that I can't see otherwise I get some pretty sarcastic replies.
