You can check bags through on airlines if they have agreement, if not on same ticket bring other ticket to check in, they enter info...

Are you sure your Boston flight is to JFK and not LGA LaGuardia, as that's the domestic airport for NYC and AA flights.....

11.30am to 8pm is a good amount of time. It would be reasonable to think you would get into Manhattan before 2pm and back before 5.30pm, giving you two or three hours. When you depart Manhattan will depend on mode of transport you opt for.

15 minutes in Times Square should be enough so perhaps consider elsewhere as well. Central Park is 'only' about ten blocks north, you could walk up Broadway to there. Ten blocks south and a few blocks west will take you to The High Line instead. You could always use the Subway to make the process easier.

But keep an eye on your watch and know it will take about/up to 90 mins to get to your terminal via Subway.

Thinking about this more, assuming the bag check goes smoothly enough that you have time, I'd start with Times Square, then Rockefeller Center's "Top of the Rock" if you have time, then walk as much of Broadway southwards as you have time for, aiming to end at Union Square if you have time to reach it.

These are in different terminals. Still going with the "BAD IDEA" thing. You do not have enough time. It will take an hour from JFK into Manhattan. You need to be back at JFK minimum 2 hours before your flight. With an hour to return to JFK you've already wasted 4 hours.

If you really would like to see Times Square, go for it! I highly suggest taking LIRR rather than the subway, as it takes about half the time, and you really don't have much of that. You will get out in Penn Station, which is a complete dump, but is right under Madison Square Garden. Then its just 8 blocks up to Times Square (15 min walk probably). I'd suggest probably just walking from Penn Station, through Times Square, over to Rockefeller Center, and then probably catching the "E" train towards Queens and heading back to JFK using the AirTrain connection. All in all, without stopping and just walking...the walk from Penn to Rockefeller Center would take approx 45 min, and the subway out to JFK, including the AirTrain, will take a little over an hour.

Hi,

According to flight schedule, I will arrive JFK Airport @ 0745 Hours and my next flight to Orlando (MCO) will be at 1356 Hours.

That makes it a 6 hours wait. Since it is a domestic flight on Jetblue, what time do I need to be there earlier? 1 hour?

I will arrive at Terminal 4 and I checked Jetblue is at Terminal 5. How long is the Airtrain between terminals?

Any recommendation on where I can visit during this time period? The direction to Times Square doesnt sounds so straight forward.

It's not 6 hours. If you flight lands at 7:45 you still need to go through customs and collect your luggage and then get to terminal 5 to check your bag (I recommend taking the Airtrain to do this). That could take longer than you think.

Now, it's very straight forward to get from JFK to Times Square by taking the AirTrain from JFK to Jamaica and taking the E train to 42nd street. Then it's just a walk down 42 Street (1 Block) to Times Square.

That's about as straight forward as you're ever going to get.

For anyone Interested in how things actually went for me:

I arrived in JFK and collected my bags and stored them downstairs in Terminal 4 where I would be flying out of (I checked and early check in was not an option). THen I hopped on the air train to Jamaica Center and followed the E line to 42nd Street.

I walked around Time Square for about an hour, then popped off to the side streets for a couple slices of NYC style pizza (delicious, can't believe people would actually eat at Sbarros while in NYC).

I checked out some other shops and stuff for a little over an hour and then got back on the subway. I made it back to JFK a whole 4 hours before my flight boarded with ample time to check in and even have a nap in the terminal.

All in all I did everything I wanted to do with the short amount of time I had and it definitely beat sitting around the airport all day. I did enough of sitting around the airport on my next connecting flights in Frankfurt and Singapore on my way back to Bali where I live.

Saw Times Square lots of times in US Drama, it would be cool if I can take the opportunity of the long layover to go there.
