Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Krabi, Thailand by land?

Is it reasonable to travel by land from Kuala Lumpur to Krabi by land? Are there any night buses or transport that do so? AirAsia is ranging from 70USD to 120USD for the dates I'm looking to travel, and wanted to see what other options would be.

Thanks in advance!!

You should be able to take a bus to Hat Yai, spend the night there, and another to Krabi (perhaps with a change of bus on the way). In Hat Yai you will probably be dropped at a tourist transport office - they can direct you from there. I do not know why people on TT worry so much about connections in SEA - everything is geared up to look after you. But do not expect to be transported instantly from place to place - It is not Star Trek. Allow time for these things.

Hi there, thank you for the information. I've also found that I can take the train (http://www.ktmb.com.my/) from KL to Hat Yai and then a bus from Kat Yai to Krabi.

I wouldn't say I'm worried about connections, I'm just not familiar with what's available which is why I come here to talk to knowledgeable people like you :)

Or get to Penang and get a mini van direct to Krabi. You do go via Hat Yai but it only takes a day.

Thank you all for the help! So bus is faster than train from KL to Krabi? Where is the best place to arrange bus transport in KL?

Go to Pudu Raya bus station (near Chinatown) and buy the ticket directly..there are plenty of buses going north, but try and buy it the day before if possible.
