How to travel from Mysore to Goa in Jan 2013

Hey everyone,

A friend and I are travelling to India for a month next year, and are having a lot of difficulty trying to figure out the best/easiest way to travel from Mysore to Goa!!

We are happy to travel by either train or bus overnight, but can't find ANY routes online. Does anyone know of a bus company that does AC buses between the two cities, or can recommend a way to get there? I'm guessing there's a bus probably just not online, but it'd be nice to know before we get there! :)

Thanks!
Steph

Hi

There are couple of direct buses from Mysore to Panaji(Goa) one around 2:30pm is KSRTC volvo which you can book through ksrtc.in and another one in evning around 6:30 pm of Paulo travels which you can book thru redbus.in. Both of these buses are Volvo buses having AC with semi-sleeper push back seats.

Enjoy Mysore & Goa :)

Bragg have looked into that train and will book asap-- thank you for being so specific, it's VERY helpful!!! =) Trying to book these trains from Australia without knowing the Indian system has been very confusing!!

This is also very good - http://www.seat61.com/India.htm

if you follow the instructions to the tee, you will be able to buy tickets online using Visa or MC - it took me 10 mins and I was up and buying tickets whilst in Bali a few months back.

Would second the use of Hampi/Hospet as a mid way point. We took sleeper buses (travel co. arranged) between Palolem in Goa and Hampi, then Hampi to Bangalore, Bangalore on a quick train to Mysore. Some of them weren't the best, but it's all part of the fun.
