I had a good experience with senesouk villa. Clean, friendly, good location, nice room. Minus point : doors closing at 23:00.

I have been looking at senesouk, looks great, but am finding it hard to find out how to make a reservation there, did you book before you went or just find it whilst in Luang Prabang?

I found in Luang Prabang there seemed to be plenty of accomodation and was able to walk in off the street, inspect room and negotiate price. Unfortunately I don't remember any of the names of the hotels.
In Vientiane, I found it was a case of wandering the streets for 2 or 3 hours before able to get a small grotty room, so definitly book ahead if headed to Vientiane.

Check out Agoda.com - I really like using it for checking out different hotels and making reservations. Senesouk is on Agoda so you can book it there: http://www.agoda.com/asia/laos/luang_prabang/villa_senesouk_hotel.html

Rattana Gues House in the wat Tot area should come in at 30-35 for an air con double in high season - they have a website, take a look..

We've been staying a Senesouk Guesthouse since 2003. Never had a bad experience there. Friendly English speaking staff, and very central.

We were there about a month ago, my wife just rang and made a reservation.

I had decided senesouk was the one for us, but sadly they now say they do not have space for the dates we want, 15th-22nd January :( any other suggestions of places similar to senesouk??? Thank you :)

I booked the Ammata through Agoda after looking at the good reviews on TripAdvisor. It's a few dollars over your limit, at $45. Of course, after traveling around Lao for a couple of weeks, $45 seems outrageously expensive:)

I was very pleased with this place - it's opposite the river and breakfast is served in the river garden. Very nice staff, great rooms.
