Need some info about getting around on Ometepe with children
Hello! My husband and our two children (5 and 2) will be traveling to Ometepe in April, and we can't seem to find the general type of information that we are looking for to help us plan. Is the island complex as small as it seems? Can you get anywhere on the island in less than an hour on a bus, or are some areas of interest several hours of remote travel away from other areas? Does the bus system run everywhere or is there a car rental place on the island? What are the best areas to stay for small children? We are not accustomed to staying at resorts, so someplace more casual is great, and with a nice sand beach? Or is the beach not really great for swimming anywhere in particular?I do know that I need to be in Los Angeles or Myogople on certain days, so are there some beautiful, family-friendly regions of Ometepe that are just a few minutes bus ride away from that area? THanks for any info!

On the Volcano Concepcion part of the Island buses run frequently between Moyogalpa and Altagracia. From Altagracia there are buses to the Maderas, southern , part of the island to Balgue and also to Merida (altough last time i was there these buses didn"t run for unknown reason). Some hotels have a shuttle service or they can arrange a taxi.
Best places for kids with a sandy beach wil be Charco Verde/Playa Venezia with a small sandy beach and two hotels/restaurants, the other, more touristy the Santo Domingo beaches on the way to Balgue. There are no resorts, the whole island is very laidback.
Charco Verde will be your best bet, it is an half an hour busride from Moyogalpa if that is what you mean by Myogople..?! Los Angeles is in between.
