9 days in KUL/SIN

Hi, I am arriving at KLIA via Malaysia Airlines in a week. I have 9 days in total and no itinerary as this was a last-minute decision.

Is it best to use an ATM at KLIA airport?

What is the most affordable way to get to the city from KLIA? Do I need to figure out a way to get to LCCT first?

I have 9 days in all, so what are the touristy/popular "must see" places I should visit in KUL, around KUL, and SIN? How much do these places cost? Any suggestions on an itinerary? I am a budget traveler and thinking about staying at Hotel China Town 2.

I was thinking about getting a night train to SIN to save on hotel costs. How do I go about doing this and how much does this cost? I have one large piece of luggage and backpack. Should I leave the luggage somewhere?

I really appreciate the help. This is a last minute to decision to travel here, so still doing research.

Plenty of ATMs at the airport.

Cheapest way is a bus into the centre...8RM.

On things to do and places to stay.....use the search box on the top right. You will find plenty of suggestions for all budgets.

For a 9 day trip, personally I would get hold of a guide book anyway...like the LP Malaysia and Singapore...or download the KL/Singapore chapters. It will pay for itself in information and suggestions...

The airport bus from KLIA to KL Sentral is RM10 and runs every half hour. No need to go to LCCT.
KL Sentral is also the train station so you can book your Spore ticket there.

ATM at airport will have the same bank rate as the city. But don't change cash at the airport, wait till you get to town and use money changers.

Thanks for the info all! I arrive at 7:15 pm. Do you think it's possible to catch the night train to Singapore right when I get to KL Sentral or should I wait to go another day? So taking a bus to KL Sentral is the most affordable option at RM10? Do you think it's wise to leave my baggage somewhere (KL Sentral's Left Luggage) during my short trip to Singapore. I'm thinking that way I can just be a backpacker and stay at a hostel while in Spore. I hear it's not advisable to wear shorts in these countries. Is this true?

Thanks again!

AS a tourist, you can wear what you want.

Why do you think a 'backpacker' doesn't have luggage? Isn't that where the name comes from?!

Still...if you are only going to Singa for a couple of days, and then going back to KL ?....you can leave your big bags in KL Sentral station.

You might find it's more efficient to take a bus between KL and S/pore in that they go more frequently than the train and take less time.

1. There should not be any difference between ATM in the airport and in the city.

2. The most affordable way from KLIA into KL city is by bus to KL Sentral. Ticket is RM10 (~USD 3) and a bus departs every half an hour.

3. Tourist attractions you must visit in KL - The twin towers, islamic museum, bukit bintang, batu caves

4. You can leave your bags in KL sentral.

5. But if you plan to take a bus to Singapore, take the KLIA Transit train instead and get off at Bandar Tasik Selatan. From there you can get on a bus to Singapore. Fare is around RM 35 to RM 50 ( ~ USD 11 - 16)
