genuine retreat / privacy in Bali

I have been to Bali a few times and am here on my fourth visit, currently in Ubud
As anyone who has been to Bali knows, the constant attention and pestering to buy/massage/taxi can be wearing at the best of times. I am currently grieving and desperate for some genuine peace and opportunity to be alone with my thoughts. I'd like t be on a beach but is there anywhere left where I will genuinely be left alone? I was wondering about Nusa lembongan perhaps? Or anywhere really... basic bungalow with wifi needed but not fussed about other mod cons and on something of a budget..
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance and please feel free to PM me if you'd rather not advertise a genuinely hidden gem to the whole internet!
X B

Check out the GMV. Don't know if it is OK for you budget-wise. I don't think you'll find any beach where you are left in peace.

If in your shoes, (and I live in Ubud), I'd head up to Munduk and probably spend a few days at the Puri Lumbung Cottages.

Munduk has a way of soothing one's heart.

Please don't think this is a silly answer: I feel for you. The price is not so much these days on budget airline carriers. If you truly crave isolation on a beautiful beach I would go for East Coast Peninsula Malaysia (but not if you want to drown your sorrows, it's alcohol-free). I just came back and edited this because I remembered it's also monsoon season on east coast - which will make it even less crowded but it can rain a lot - although not usually all day.

Don't worry there are still plenty of isolated, desolate beaches left in Bali - you just won't find many of them in the crowded south (though there are still some there too). Try heading west of Kuta about 60km, past Balian, the popular surfing village, and you will find miles upon miles of beautiful, empty beach, with occasional fisherman but not a tourist in sight. And there are cheap places to stay too. WIFI might however be a problem. If that is your basic requirement, you'll find it difficult.
