Country with nice beaches for kids?
In the winter 2013 we'd like to take our then 3 and 5 year-old on a 1-2 week trip in the Caribbean. The kids have done quite well with us on budget travels in Europe and Mexico and we've backpacked ourselves in Africa, South Asia and Eastern Europe ourselves on a RTW before they came into being.Does anybody have any recommendations in the Caribbean for young kids? Perhaps a place with nice beaches and calm water without strong currents?
While we're not interested in all-inclusive resorts or packaged holidays, we are interested in places you've enjoyed with your children. Hotels/restaurant recommendations also appreciated.
Thank you!

What about a cottage in Antigua:http://www.antiguanice.com/v2/client.php?id=776&cat=18
close to bus stop, 2 restaurants, 2 calm sandy beaches (chairs). Nice trails over 2 other beaches (restaurants, chairs) to Jolly Harbour (long sandy beach, supermarket, shops, etc.) and via Darkwood Beach to Turner's Beach.
and if you have a car: http://www.scova-antigua.com/

Carriacoou has calm sandy beaches too, especially Paradise beach.
Or rent a flat at Bequia. Or check Anguilla.

Renting a house in Becquia could be good. Or maybe rent a house in Tobago - aim for somewhere reasonably near to Crown Point (the airport). You'd need a car in Tobago but not so much in Becquia.3
The crime rate is high in Tobago. Only the area around Crown Point is somewhat safe.If you want to stay in this greater area of the Caribbean, look rather for a flat or hotel in Grenada. Check Morne Rouge Beach (nice beach for kids). http://www.grenada-beaches.com/grenada-beaches/morne-rouge-beach/

Thank you, neckervd & Andrewintown. Any other suggestions for a non-package tour/inclusive beach holidays in the Caribbean?
