Vang Vieng Party Still Over?
I know that this topic has been covered elsewhere here on TT and in articles on the web, but I'm looking specifically for very current info. If you aren't there or haven't been there very recently, please don't speculate, lecture or answer.Two friends and I are in the area and are wondering if the bars and party related fun are still shut down in Vang Vieng as of now. The most recent info I have come across is some months old now, and we are wondering what the state of affairs is there and if we can expect to find some (non-dry) river tubing fun there.

If you really are a spelunker, you will be able to enjoy Vang Vieng without the tubing. :-)6

Interesting words on that Dateline piece by the owner of the Aussie Bar. He says business is way down in Vang Vieng, though he's optimistic that it might get back up to 80% by this time next year.9
I've been in Van Vieng just a couple of months ago and the tubing thing is quite quiet now. Not very crowded and not very dangerous actually. They have removed the drinking bars along the river, but people is still transporting alcohol with them in the tube though (quite uncomfy). So from my point of view its not very dangerous any more...The bars in town are totally open, and people is still partying around. I guess is not as it used to be but still fun... and beautiful scenery!
