Accomodation availability Kerala / Goa

The way I see it, Christmas Eve falls on a Monday this year and for many Indians taking 2 weeks off this means they will be vacating hotels and disappearing the weekend 5th / 6th January. I would have thought that arriving Sunday 6th Jan would cause no problems in finding good accomodation but I've read a number of posts where it's recommended to arrive after the 10th Jan. Is there any particular significance regarding 10th Jan ?

There is nothing special about Jan 10th date. It is just a few days after the weekend of 5th and 6th.

Most NYE visitors to Goa will have left by Sunday the 6th but there will be a few who have the time (and money) to spend another day or two in Goa.

Yes, arriving on 6th should not be a big problem except that all weekends tend to be busy and another reason for the 5th/6th Jan. weekend to be extra busy is that it is the first weekend after NYE when the room rates come down to normal rates after the big hike of X-mas and NYE rates.

I think arriving in Goa/Kerala on the 7th or 8th of Jan should be fine for accomodation availability.
