Bringing Dehydrated Food into Baja

Does anyone know if one can bring dehydrated pre-packed/sealed food into Baja? I had a friend have some beef-based stuff pilfered at customs a few years back..mad cow disease? They wouldn't explain why, but were serious about it. I've read through some websites and nothing really outlines what you can and can't bring. It just states dairy and beef is regulated.
Thanks!
Julie

Really shouldn't be any problem at all.As long as they are sealed packages, they should let you right through. No cases of mad cow reported recently!

The Aduana tick currently is "no beef, in any form, whatsoever". You got me. I buy Maruchan beef flavored cup of noodles all the time. Yet if Aduana comes across beef bullion in a recreational vehicle or camper they take it. Illogical government agencies always seem to enforce laws a bit oddly. Could it be when the USA had problems with the corn crop and cattle had to be slaughtered by the millions, it plugged the beef pipeline solid and threatened to surge southward? Dirt cheap beef? A few influential ranchers (Like Vincente Fox) made a few phone calls to Mexico City? ¿Quien Sabe?

I have had cans of "Beef Soup" confiscated by customs. I am not sure that the rules matter much - if they want to take something they will. You will probably be fine though.
