City-hopping Middle East

Hi,

Around Christmas & newyears period I will be spending 16 days (14 without the flight days) in the Middle East. I fly to Doha, but having two weeks, I want to see some other places too, like Bahrein, Kuwait and UAE, as most of these places aren't too interesting except for the main city(ies). How many days does each country deserve?

I was considering: Qatar 3 days, Bahrein 2 days, Kuwait 4 days, UAE 5 days, sounds like a good plan or not? Any sequence that I should follow in visiting those countries? I prefer starting with stupid places and ending with the most interesting.

Which place should I be for new years to find a party?
Any info about diving centers in these countries would be really appreciated!!!

I know Oman is much nicer, but I've been there before and always try to visit some new places.

thx

I can't comment on Doha, Bahrain or Kuwait, but in terms of the UAE, 5 days will be about right. I guess you will fly into Dubai. 2 to 3 days is enough for most people to do what they want to do - Burj Khalifa, Dubai Fountain, Burj Al Arab, souk area around the Creek, Dubai Museum, Jumeirah Mosque, desert safari, etc. Then for the remaining time in the UAE you could hire a car and take a look at the other Emirates. I think that Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Fujairah are the most visited of the Emirates outside of Dubai.

Of all the places you plan to visit, I think that Dubai is probably the least conservative and hence has the most nightlife options. I guess it would be the place to be if you are looking for a party in a bar or club on New Year's Eve.

Dubai is definitely the best place for NYE. There are large firework displays in different parts of the city and lots of nightlife. You can search this website which has tons of info: www.timeoutdubai.com

I honestly don't know what you'd do for four days in Kuwait. I'd trim a couple of days off of that and add them to the UAE. Compared to other Gulf countries the UAE has tons to see and do. It's possible to get between the different emirates by bus but much easier by car and car hire can be quite cheap.
