Bus travel

Hi,
I will be arriving in Denpasar early mid afternoon and wish to travel to Jogakarta. It appears local air carriers, Lion, Mandala etc only depart in the early morning. I am now considering traveling by bus but have been unable to find a web site, in English, which provides details re departure times, fares, length of journey etc.

I understand buses depart from Ubung Bus Terminal, and that I would need to change buses in Banyuwanga (Karangenta bus station) would it be possible/advisable to simply visit Ubang bus station and purchase a ticket or do they have to be pre booked.

Any suggestions/advice appreciated.

Take the overnight VIP bus - you can book from a travel agent - and there are many. Perama will do it for you and advise you how to take a taxi to the bus station.

I am usually take a bus from Bali to Jogjakarta by Safari Dharma Raya , IDR 215.000 , executive class, toilet, blanket, and one time dinner at local restaurant.
Bus will leave at the afternoon, should be in the bus terminal around 01pm, arrive at Jogjakarta around 7am.
Max. 14 hours on board....The company have an office at the Bus Terminal.
FYI , there is a new terminal name Mengwi, in the future Bus will never leave from Ubung anymore...

Save trip

Or, rather than a 14 hour bus trip immediately following a long air haul, why not just book a room in nearby Kuta for the night, get some sleep, and fly out to Yogy early the next morning? It isn't like you're going to see a lot from your bus windows on the red eye bus to Yogy.

Hi Thanks for your message, can you clarify the following points,

If traveling in December will I have to catch the bus at Ubung or Mengwi bus terminal.

Is FY1 the counter where I purchase my ticket.

Are there any departures after 1pm, my flight does not arrive at PS until 1.45 and I will have to clear the airport, travel to the bus station, I am not sure how long I should allow for this.

Appreciate if you can clarify these points

Hi Adam
A lot of long distance buses to/from Java operate out of Mengwi now.
Besides OBL aka Safari DR, theres Restu Mulya, Gunung Harta, Pahala Kencana, Tami Jaya, Sedya Mulya and others. Overall OBL seems to be the most popular.
These buses leave at different times of the day so theres bound to be one that suits you..

( Salam kenal addeag. A few months ago, I queried OBL price and its idr350k. Gunung Harta was idr250k. Aku bukan bule )
