Sibbick1 saids he is a Budget traveller but then saids he pays php1000 a night for a place
to stay.
My god any backpacker can find a place to stay for no more than php500 a night
and that is most places in the philippines.
you can find places to stay from php150 a night up.
I am the ture Budget traveller on this site as dont pay more than php500 a night.

Wow! So much to do!! Will 4 weeks be long enough? I've read I need 2 weeks to do palawan and corom (the iskand above it, can't remember the name! I'll do some research tonight! Hoping to book in the next 2 weeks!

So other questions for now, they'll be hundreds more once I get a chance to research all your advice!

Is 4 weeks long enough, if not, how long would you recommend?
Are there any other nearby countries that are good to do/easily accessible? I was going to do thailand, vietnam, singapore etc on the way home from australia but could do a bit whilst in the philippines!

Many thanks!!

I have stayed in P100 per night accommodation on Dinagat Island and P150 per night accommodation in Surigao City.

20 years to see everything properly

Haha well 20 years probably isn't doable! Shall I try for 5/6 weeks instead then? Will I not get bored!? I like to be doing things, 1 day a week at the beach would be plenty for me, the rest of the time I'd like to be active!

Hi,

Dufas I hate to rain on your parade but 20 years is not enough. Then again I just love the islands and so am heavily biased. There is lots to do there and with over 7,000 to choose from surely there is something for everyone!

My advice, go for the longer period you mention, at times travel in the islands can be an ordeal and takes time - just imagine that as part of your travel and take it in your stride.

The islands are of course an archipelago and so other places are not easily accessed, although short flights to many are easily obtained. I usually do a bit in other countries before I go the the Philippines and then again after but, the islands are the ones where I feel I am happiest. I could easily spend 3 months on one island. What chance you got with 5/6 weeks he he. Enjoy those travels.
