Raja Empat late December 2012 and January 2013
Two independent travellers (students/EAN divers) are planning to arrive in Sorong (West Papua) on Saturday, December 29, 2012, and possibly stay in the Raja Empat archipelago for a month. Once in Sorong, we would like to proceed immediately either to the north or to the south of the Archipelago.Regarding first option (north) we would be very appreciative if there is someone leaving from Waisai (Waigeo) or Sorong before New Year’s Eve towards Alyui Bay or, preferably, directly towards Wayag. In that case we would like very much to join a boat/yacht and share the cost of transportation with other passengers. Info for individual transportation offer from Waisai to Wayag would also be appreciated as well as much closer and less demanding transport option from Waisai to the Island A(i)rborek. Another piece of information that we would welcome is recommended budget accommodation option (we have checked the homestays page on the web, but would like to hear from the first hand experiences) that would enable us to use the dive facilities (packages) of the Kri Eco Resort (second part of January).
Regarding second option (moving south), please are there any Pelni (government) or local boats leaving from the port of Sorong on Dec 29, 30 or 31 to Misool (if so, would be very thankful for the date/s and the expected length of journey, as well as the place of arrival). If there are (relative) budget options available from Sorong to Misool, our ultimate destination would be the Misool’s south-eastern island fringes of the Fiabacet and the Farondi. Any knowledge/offer for the transportation from Misool to the Fiabacet and the Farondi for approximately a week (unfortunately we cannot afford the Misool Eco Resort package that includes transportation, accommodation and diving, though Resort guests’ feedback is impressive)?
Looking forward for any feedback/replies. Many thanks.

HiI stayed in raja Ampat inJuly/ Aug 2011 . We went from Sorong with public boat to Waisai ,We arranged an accomodation in Sorong for an island" yenbuba " .it was a small and clean Homestay with Raimond and his family ( 4 Bungalow ) . He offers diving .We only do snorkeling ,but is was great, his little Beach is much better than the beach from the diving resort on the island ( i think Kri Eco Resort ) because you can also go easily for swimming when it is low tide!!. raimond picked us up in waisai. It was not expensive but i think it changed a little . We went for a day trip tu Aerborek and watched mantas while snorkeling ,you can also stay in aerborek. For more information ,just ask.

Hi LRSTPY777 - Probably a bit late, but this Stay Raja Ampat site has most of the info you need. Their Facebook page has messages from people looking to share costs for a trip to RA's Wayag islands in January. Hope you have a great trip! :)ADVERTISEMENT
