Diving on the GILI islands in mid dec
I visited the GILI islands a few months ago and unfortunately did not take notes on the diving schools there. A friend is visiting in mid dec and he wants to do a PADI course. Can you recommend good diving schools on all 3 GILI islands?
When I walked up the main drag of GILI T past the power station there was a popular diving school with loads of young folk. It looked quiet sociable there. What is the name of that diving school?
On GILI M what is the name of that diving school next to the bamboo bungalows on the beach that face GILI T
Also, in mid Dec is it monsoon? How much rain does one expect each day? Will this affect the visibility for diving?
many thanks

Hi,first a list of the most popular diving operators at the Gilis:

Second, rainy season in Indonesia does not mean that it will rain every day. However, you have mountains up to 3700m very nearby in Lombok (Mt Rinjani). So I would expect that at least there you will see rain every day and this rain will bring mud into the water at the Gilis. I have never been there in December, however, I would expect some reduction of visibility in the water.
Best regards,

There are 22 diveshops at Trawangan, there a little ones and big ones, you can choice what you like. On Gili Meno there are 3 diveshops and on Gili Air 8 diveshops. All diveshops are diving mainly the same dive sites, sometimes it looks a different dive site but its just a different name. There are Padi and SSI shops.
Its not that the dive shop makes you a good diver, its the instructor who has the passion to make you a good diver.
Its up to you were you like to dive on the seperate island every dive shop has the same prices.
