buying a car in Sydney - Rego transfer/renewal

Hi fellow travellers,

I'm currently in Sydney and I would like to buy a second hand car to drive all the way to Perth and beyond at some point in January.

I'm looking for advices on NSW Rego transfer/renewal, I gathered all the info but it would be interesting to hear from anyone who has had a direct experience.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I just bought a car here and I made sure that it would have rego for the duration of my stay to avoid the hassle of renewal. Transferring the rego was really easy for me, it took about 20 minutes at the RTA office.
