Orgs helping foreigners in trouble?

Anybody knows of any organisation that helps travellers in trouble in Barcelona? All I have found is www.callforhelp.es but it does not look very professional. Any idea?

Depends on what kind of help you're looking for.

How about your embassy or consulate?

Yes, I think that the best you can do if you're in real trouble in a foreign country is to contact your country's diplomats.

Thanks. Forgot to say it is for a TV programme we want to shoot about orgs helping tourists who have been mugged or robbed or got into trouble in Barcelona. Apparently there are a few but cannot find them.

Did you check with a couple of the embassies or consulates?
They should have some idea of those sort of things...if they don't...then WHY not...(a good point to make on your program...)

I don't know of any, standard procedure is to go to the police station, fill in the multi-language tickbox form, and take a copy for your travel insurance company.

By the way, if that call for help website is going to get an 807 number then it seems that all they're going to do is relieve tourists of their euro coins in phone boxes. That's if they've got any left after being robbed.

Hi,

CallForHelp is run by very experienced ex-Consular & Commercial staff,

We are located in Barcelona and available to assist you 24/7.

We do not pretend to compete with the Consulate Generals in Barcelona, we will assist all English speaking nationals. and can offer a complete range of assistance. These include legal advice & assistance, tourist assistance, and an information service for residents, tourists and companies.

The company is in it's formation period and will 'go live' in January 2013. You will receive direct personal attention and NOT be directed to a call centre.

An 807 number is VERY expensive.
