Meeting place airport + train to Agra
Hi all,on a sunday in march my husband will land at 14:45 at T3 with Emirates. As I´m already there, I was thinking about meeting him at the airport and going straight to the station for a Agra-bound train.
Do you think it will be enough time, if I book the 12616 leaving at 18:40 from New Delhi Station ? (I`m able to book via Cleartrip) A Nizzamuddin possibility unfortunately already leaves at 16:10, the 12190, I doubt this would be ok...
I`d like to stay in MajnuKaTilla the night before, do you think it`s possible to get a taxi there, going to the airport, leaving my luggage in the taxi`s trunk, meet my husband, and go to the station with the same driver ? Or should I just leave my luggage in the stations cloakroom, go to the airport and hire a taxi back? Are there long qeues at the cloakroom ?
And - as I understood, I can`t enter the airport without a flight ticket, where could we meet without me having to endure the touts till the flight arrives ?

You will have sufficient time for 12616 G.T. Express. You can also take Metro from Vidhan Sabha Metro station which is near Majnu Ka Tila to reach airport with your luggage. I hope metro service will also be available in March 2013 from airport to New Delhi station.Metro takes only twenty six minutes to reach new Delhi railway station from the airport. New Delhi metro station is on the Ajmeri Gate side of New Delhi station and you will have to cross all the nine platforms by overhead bridge to reach the platform number three and this side is also very crowded in the evening.
12616 G.T. Express generally departs daily from platform number three of New Delhi railway station. Therefore, if you come to New Delhi Station by Taxi then come to platform number one side that is Paharganj Side. Generally entrance from this side is also not very crowded. Prepaid taxi is available from airport.

You could aim for the 14212 Intercity express which leaves at 1740 from New delhi and also stops at Nizamuddin at 1758 for 2 miniutes. Since this is a train just between Delhi and Agra, should be easy to book at short notice too. This is slower train but has chair cars which is more comfortable than the long distance trains's berths.You could retain the taxi from Majnu ka Tilla. Since the afternoons are less busy for international flights, you should be able to leave the airport by 4pm giving you plenty of time.In the event of a delay at the airport,you can board the train at Nizamuddin.Should not take more than an hour for the journey from the airport to either of the railway stations.
