Do the students you host leave with more luggage than they arrived with?
I do know the train people have heads thicker than brick walls. They will not listen to anyone. I was advised to phone the ombudsman who advised me to phone Rail Corp. They were supposed to phone me back. I have not heard from them so far.
The minister at the church I have been attending tried to speak with them. They would not listen to him either. I would not be riding the train unless I had to.
May be if enough people stopped riding the trains, they would lose business and possibly change their ways?
Love to you all from Libraryvolunteer
My cases passed as I had two of them sent by freight. I rode the train from Melbourne to Sydney fine. Friday morning on the XPT from Sydney to Brisbane, I woke up to find that coffee had been spilled on my knitting. Balls of wool, patterns, and a project it took me a long time to knit was damaged also the top I was wearing. It was not me as I do not drink coffee. Thankfully, I dressed in layers.
As a result of that I cancelled my onward reservation and travelled the remainder of my journey by Greyhound coach. I asked for, and will be receiving a refund from the Queensland rail. I will be taking pictures of the damage and sending it to the Country Link people. I have people that can be contacted for witnesses.
I am asking for financial compensation and hoping I receive it. I will not be riding trains for awhile.
I would advise people not to either.

while you are freeloading of your churchy friends, you better get them to say a multitude of payers for that compensation case.
Country Link are not responsible for coffee being spilt on your items, the person who had the coffee on the train may be responsible, then again you should not have left your belongings in a position where they can be damaged.
Time to step up and take responsibility for yourself.
