I intend to go in March (unless it gets any more aggravating). I am Canadian and would like to clarify. My plan was to fly into Santiago and pay their fee and then bus across the Andes. So now I would have to pay on arrival in Chile and also have a prepaid voucher for Argentina? If I then go to Uruguay for a few days and re-enter Argentina, do I have to pay again? Is there any advantage in flying into B.A., doing my trip the reverse of the original plan and ending in Chile? If I have to pay fees everywhere, I would just as soon vacation elsewhere. Any clarification much appreciated.32
If you arrive in Chile at SCL on an international flight, you would pay the fee.If you then wanted to enter Argentina by bus, you would have to pre-pay the fee.
If you fly into Argentina you would need to pre-pay the fee.
If you then took a bus into Chile, you would not pay the Chilean fee.
So it works out cheaper to go to Argentina first and Chile second. Chile only charges at the airport in Santiago if arriving on an international flight.
For Uruguay, check what time frame/number of entries you get as a Canadian entering Argentina. It is probably in the original post on this thread. It varies by nationality.

If I was in Argentina in 2010 (i entered by bus) will i need to pay the reciprocity fee when entering argentina (again by bus) in the end of January? Since i was in Argentina within the past 5 years and still have the stamp in my passport i wasnt sure if I would need to pay the fee or not.36

So I guess you have to pay again. :(

pay the extra fees for being foreign tourists in the National Parks. The US has no extra fee for foreigners to the parks there.This is typical of a lot of countries though. All countries in S.America have 3 types of fees for locals, local south americans, and foreigners. Its life. We also have a higher standard of salaries. So its only normal.

Perhaps it's somewhere in the previous posts, in which case, apologies.Can the receipt be electronic (iPad, iPhone, whatever)?
I looked at the government website and it's not specific. If the receipt is to be scanned, then a virtual copy would (in theory) work.
Since the paper copies people will bring will have been printed outside the country the measure is presumably not about protecting the Argentine pulp and paper industry....

Good question. They will check their computers with the number, so perhaps it is good enough. I have a sinking feeling it will NOT, however. Do not apply Western Logic outside the first world, you will quickly come to grief. Better to have some sort of paper copy, scan or print, as bureaucrats NEED paper. They say you need a "printed receipt", period.From the prepay website:
"3.After payment is processed, print the receipt.
4.Upon arrival in Argentina, go to the DNM Office and present the printed receipt.
5.The receipt will be scanned by DNM staff and the data will be validated to enable entry to Argentina. "

Taught English at a French company here in Mendoza a few years back, a very efficient company with high tech, secure, data collection. Then the government nationalized it, and all the tech staff (my students) had to stop what they were doing for 2 months to make paper copies of everything (no reason, they had ebackups of ebackups) because the burro-crazy here NEEDS to collect paper even if it just piles up and is never read again.

Just want to be clear on this page (as I am still getting a lot of pms on the topic, so know there is confusion) that for arrival at the BA airports, you STILL have the option to pay at the airport until December 27, 2012. I had a family member arrive there today (at EZE) , and there was no problem doing this. From December 28 on though you WILL have to prepay online to board and international flight to the BA airports.From January 7, 2013 onwards, reciprocity fees will be needed at ALL entry points, including by land, and that will require prepayment online.
For those few arriving by cruise ships, you are exempt from payment until June 30, 2013.

No doubt there will shortly be vendors of "minutos" with print facilities at all land border points, so that people arriving by bus can pay their fees before the border formalities.I doubt that all bus companies, particularly at minor crossings, will be checking that boarding passengers have their receipts.

Well, I have taken many international buses across many of the Argentina border points with different countries.In each case, the bus company doing the crossing (as opposed to dropping off at the border) insist on seeing at least a copy of the DNI or Passport on ticket-booth purchase, and insist you confirm and show your original document a half-hour before and on boarding the bus. I have also have seen the bus driver question a passport holder about being outside the 90 day tourist visa period and ensuring the passenger understands he has to pay the 300 pesos overstaying penalty at the border. This extra work (as well as licensing fees) is the reason that transborder bus trips are more expensive per km than on merely domestic routes
The reason is that the bus company doing the transborder crossing is responsible for giving a list of the passengers with document #'s to both the stamp-out and stamp-in Immigration authorities at the border, and this is prepared before departure. It would not be his extraa big step to ensure the passengers have the printed prepayment for certain nationalities BEFORE boarding the bus, like the airlines will have to do. We will see what happens.
However, for those minority of walk-up travelers not crossing on the same bus or boat, there could be related vendors available. I would not count on it at some points.

So just double checking here, sorry to be redundant if it is, but I just want to be sure. I am Canadian flying into Mendoza, Toronto - Dallas - Santiago - Mendoza, all on LAN on Jan 2. If I get my bags checked all the way through and don't leave the transit area in Santiago, I will still be okay without paying any fees?
