Urgent please help!

Hi I need some advice, I'm an Australian applying for my UK ancestry Visa. But I am heading to South American first and then to UK with out returning to AUS.

I leave on the 4th of Feb 2013.

I am sending away my brazil visa application TODAY (16th November) and plan to send away my ancestry visa application away as SOON as my passport returns.

Do you think I will get my passport back in time before I leave (4th Feb) - or have I left it too late...

Hi....

Nobody can give a 100% assured yes or no answer to this one.
Couple of pointers....
1).... I sent off for a visa a few years back - and it took 12 weeks to be processed.
2).... Have you asked at both Consulates what the present turn around periods are?
Back to you.

Take any express processing options available. I can't speak to Brazil but I can say that in my dealings with the poms in Oz they have been pretty fast and efficient. Make sure all required paperwork is as requested, check and double check.

Processing times for the UK visa are available on the UKBA site - treat them as a bare minimum.

Brazil I have no idea.

Thanks, guys I have been told 3- 4 Weeks for my Brazil visa and the same time frame for my UK visa. My only concern that becuase its falling over the christmas period I will experience delays.
I'm applying for my Brazil visa first and just going to hope that my UK visa comes back before I leave ... otherwise I'm really going to be in a pickle....

The listed processing time for a recent UK visa I applied for was 40 calendar days, and it took 4 1/2 months. UKBA seems to have an avalanche of applications right now. Although my work colleague has just recieved a different kind of visa in a reasonable time, so it probably depends on which department you're dealing with. Nevertheless, you've set yourself up with a needlessly stressful itinerary.

It is possible eurotrash was applying in country (within the UK) - I know the processing times for many visas (ie: Tier 1 extensions, Ancestry extensions) are currently at least 4 months.

For an initial application such as stepinie23 is applying for, the processing is done outside the UK and processing times are typically shorter.

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood the difference between applying within the UK and outside of it. I was indeed applying from inside the UK for indefinite leave to remain. The passportless 4.5 months sucked, but I guess they need a way of deterring Canadians like me from stealing British jobs!

Oh that makes me feel better, 4.5 months without a passport must have been tough!
Just and update, I submitted my Brazil visa application (via post) on Tuesday and I got an email yesterday saying that my application has been lodged which is great, hoping to have my passport back soon so I can send of my UK visa application - hoping ill be as lucky with that!
