Eating in La Paz

An excellent cafe in La Paz is Cafe el Mundo. The Swedish owner has travelled the world extensively, been a tour guide and knows what travellers need. It is in the Witches Market a few blocks up from San Francisco Plaza on Sagarnaga Street. The food is reasonably priced, freshly prepared and the cafe is decorated with lots of useful information. The very helpful owner is happy to give you any further information you might need.

I wish I had known about this place prior to eating at the atrocious Marbella: the service for gringos is ghastly.

#1: Well, I've eaten at the Marbella a few times and while it isn't anything spectacular, I've never had complaints about their service or food. And I'm a gringo. Maybe just your bad luck, finding the waiter having an off-day..? I wouldn't give any restaurant such a ghastly review based on just one visit.

OP: Will check that place out some time, sounds interesting (but that goes for loads of cafes and restaurants around here).

ive seen it many time and it looks quite nice , its small but cosy. Menu options look decent enough - always meant to try it but just never been ready to eat when passing.
