arriving late

Hi Folks,

I know this has been touched upon here and there in earlier threads, but I'd like to ask again on this issue:
Since I am a solo travelling female and my flight arrives late (around 11pm) into Managua, should I take a taxi directly to a hostel in Granada (which is where I want to be) or spend the night at the BW hotel airport to avoid safety risks of travelling at night?

I'd like to land somewhere to adjust for a few days and Granada sounds like a good starter-off, plus I am making my way to Ometepe so the right direction. The hotel at the airport is very expensive, so I thought it might be nicer to taxi to a more affordable hostel that night. If this is unsafe, I would rather stay at the airport hotel and then bus the next day. Is the bus station fairly nearby?

If I were to take a taxi:
What taxi companies are good name to look out for? The cost from airport to Granada is 35$, correct? I understand its best to negotiate the price prior to the ride. Any recommendations for a good budget hostel in Granada would be helpful too.

Thanks for your input.

I have the same issue when I arrive Dec 4th, but I have arranged transport through the hotel to pick me up for $40.. I am comfortable with that.

There are many budget hostels and hotels that are recommended, The Bearded Monkey comes up alot as a fun place.
I'm staying at a little Hotel Casa Del Agua..They have a nice little pool to cool off in!

Depending on your needs and budget little hotels can be had for about $30 a night solo or less than 10 for a dorm.

Have a great time in Nica!

Save money, look up Adelante shuttle on-line. Depending on what time you arrive, they only charge $18 to take you to your hotel in Granada!
Used them a couple time already - great service!

I just had the same flight a week ago, although mine was delayed and didn't get in until after midnight. I booked online through Paxeos and a guy met me at the airport, delay and all, with a sign and we shot over to Granada easy breezy, with no traffic to boot. Just had to swerve out of the way for some stray highway horses. I was about $40 and I booked online. The guy was really cool, waited until I got in, etc etc. Sure beats paying the $100 for the BW.

As # 5 says, reserve with Paxeos for pu and immediate trip to Granada. I stayed at El Padrino which was small, pretty and inexpensive (less than $25). Book direct from their website - cheaper that way.
