Accommodation in Taipei at New Year

We're going to be in Taiwan for a couple of weeks over Christmas and New Year (Dec 31st, not Feb). I'm trying to find accommodation in Taipei for New Year: 4 people, 4-5 nights, but the usual hostels are already booked up. Dorms, rooms, self catering, etc would all be fine. Any suggestions for somewhere cheap, clean and available?

If you don't mind being a bit further out, I'd suggest looking in Keelung. It's only 30 mins from Taipei station (so basically, in the urban area), and the hotels there are much better value. I stayed at the Harbor View last month, which was very nice, and only 5 mins walk to the station. The train costs hardly anything from Taipei (US$2?). There is also a very nice night market in Keelung.

Thanks very much for the suggestion. I was really hoping for somewhere more central though. Do the trains run late into the night (or rather, early into the morning)?

You can take a bus or the train.

next time you need to book earlier, maybe more than 3 month.
