Practicing French in Congo?

Can anyone comment on the quality of French spoken in Congo and/or the prevalence of French versus indigenous languages? I know Brazzaville was the capital of Free France during World War II so I expect that they would speak well. I'm looking into places in Africa to practice the language.

I have only been in 'Brazzaville and Pointe Noire, but it seemed to me French very widely spoken by all - occasionally you would here LIngala. I can't give an opinion on the quality as I am not a French speaker.

Most middle class congolese speak french quite well and some can even sound like they were brought up in Paris. In my case, I was partly brought up in Paris so I am not a typical example... If you can manage to speak French like the average Congolese - not from the DRC where they communicate a lot more in african languages like lingala- then your level of french will be considered as being good in France and other french-speaking countries. Like anywhere else you need to find people who can speak french well... Not all middleclass congolese can meet this criterion, of course.
