Italian ski options? Need advice

I will be in Italy (outside Rome) for work in mid-to late January and I was looking at taking a trip north at the end of my stay, eventually skiing for 3 or 4 days before coming back. I am an expert skier and am looking for a resort with a variety of terrain, plenty of steeps, and a town with good restaurants, nightlife, etc.

My thoughts are either to go toward the Dolomites (maybe Cortina) or toward NW Italy (Courmayeur perhaps). I'll be driving and hope to make a few stops on the way up or back. Perhaps Genoa and/or Pisa if I go to the NW and Bologna and/or Venice if I go toward the Dolomites.

Please let me know if you have any recommendations.
