The last time we hit varadero at 9.30 pm there wasnt a taxi available to varadero but who knows maybe you will get lucky . Sometimes there is charter buses around going to havana ;hitch a ride for a few bucks

At that time of night, there may be a hotel bus dropping the tourists off at their all inclusive packages in Jibicoa, Playa del este and then onto Havana, again stopping at various hotels.

Failing that, you are paying a taxi or staying overnight.

I'd say head for Varadero, just a 20-minute ride away and 20 or 25 CUC by taxi. Overnight there in a casa or hotel IN TOWN, and next morning (maybe after hitting the beach), wander over to the bus station and catch the Viazul to Havana. (You can get the schedule from www.viazul.com or have your hotel clerk or casa host call for you to find out what time you need to be at the station.

If there are any charter buses at the airport that are headed for Havana, that's a good suggestion--providing they get you all the way into the city and not only as far as Jibacoa or Playas del Este.

Thanks for the tips...will just take the cab into town and stay overnight. Head to Havana in the morning :)

Hi there,

I'm also going to Varadero next Thursday around 9.30 PM and I would like to travel to Havana, because my darling has earlier flight to Cuba and she's waiting for me in Havana.
Any ideas how could I travel from Varadero airport to Havana at 10 PM?

Follow advice above, all your normal options are laid out.

If you want to go there for certain then pre-arrange a taxi.
