Surfboards on domestic flights

Hi guys, can anyone tell me if you are able to check in surfboards on domestic flights in Brazil and assuming you can how much the cost is? I found a cheap flight from Rio to Florianopolis with TAM but couldnt find anything about the cost of checking in a surfboard?
Also, can anyone also tell me the best places / beaches to surf around Florianopolis? Thanks so much!!
