Big Sur - best ride from SF

Hi All:

I am travelling from San Francisco to Big Sur for Thanksgiving. I'm trying to figure out the most scenic route from the city - time isn't really a factor. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

In other words, Hwy. 1 the entire way. If you're not from SF and are wondering where you should pick up Hwy. 1, follow I-280 south from downtown and take the exit to Hwy. 1 south (towards Pacifica) a couple quick minutes past the SF city limit.

If you have time ,your return trip could also be very interesting. Go to Mapquest or Google Maps for directions from Big Sur to San Juan Babtista .If you are a "Vertigo" fan you can visit that Mission.From San Juan Babtista enter Filoli Mansion & Gardens as your next stop and take that route back to the City. Have a great trip !
