Itinerary ideas for 12 days in Cambodia in januaryHi all
I will be heading to Cambodia for 12 days 19-30 January 2013 with 4 friends.
We are in our early twenties and keen to immerse ourselves in cambodian culture whilst visiting the must see sites and enjoying ourselves at night partying.
We fly into Siem Reap and leave from phnom penh.
I am thinking we spend at least a few days in both these cities but am not to sure how we should structure the rest of our time.
We are also keen to go to sihanoukville and maybe battambang
Could anyone please suggest a rough itinerary?

2a bit of a contradiction but agree spend a bit of time in a homestay to see more of the culture - see below. You do not have long so forget battambang and then decide if homestay preferable to Sianoukville perhaps go to Chi Phat and if to quiet head to the bright lights and beaches of Sianoukville

3Must see sights, beaches and night partying have nothing to do being immersed in the culture and everything to do with mass tourism. If you want to visit Cambodia to have a great time-fine. Don't use "being immersed in the culture"as a pretext.

5I'm not offended; I'm amused. Buy an LP guide book to Cambodia and go to all the recommended places in all the big cities. See too much in a short period of time and you will successfully participate in mass tourism.

6Haven't been yet, but I'm also planning a trip in February.
My suggestion would be a circular route:
Siem Reap - 3 days
Battambang - 3 days
Sihanoukville - as short as possible, or head for an island off shore like Koh Rong
Kampot - 1-2 days
Phnom Penh - 2 days
The leg from Battambang to Sihanoukville is a long one, going via Phnom Penh. It takes the best part of a full day with 2 long bus trips, and so we have decided to forgo Battambang, fly to Sihanoukvillle from Siem Reap and spend time on Koh Rong and in Kampot. If you want to see rural life, you can apparently do so as easily from Kampot as Battambang.

7Dear Fellow Travelers,
I could use advise on itinerary to Cambodia next July.
We fly in and out of Siem Reap
5 days in Siem Reap
desire to take boat to Battambang and spend 2-3 days
desire to visit Chi Phat but don't know the best way to travel there, if if reasonable with necessity to return to SIem Reap at end of 14 days in Cambodia.
Your advise please.

8Hey msdeventure. Hijacking someone else's posting is poor form especially when you're asking what is essentially the same question. You'll get a better response if you let us know what your interests are and make your own post. Or you can just read thru previous posts and probably find some help there. Sounds like you already have a pretty good sense of what you want to do.

11I think 3 days in Battambag is too much.... there is nothing to see there.... one day trip in the villages around is enought. If you can do boat trip from siem rep to battambang this was my best river trip did in my life.....
Koh rong is the most beautiful island on the coast (I know cause i live here)
