Help me plan my Spain Trip
Hi Everyone,I am leaving for Spain in 2 days for a 11.5 day trip. This is how I plan to spend it:
4 days in Barcelona.
5 days in South Spain (Seville and Granada).
That still leaves me with 2.5 days and was wondering how to spend it. I have two options in mind:
(1) Go to Madrid and spend 2.5 days there. That's probably not enough time, but at least I will get the look and feel of the city. Note that I am not into museums at all. And I've lived in and been to a few metropolitan cities already (New york, London, San Francisco, etc), so maybe I can skip Madrid? But then when will I ever visit Spain again, so maybe I should see it? That's my dilemma!
(2) Or should I spend more time in Barcelona. Maybe 4 days is not enough? Or maybe I can make some day trips to cities like Sitges and Cadaques?
Stuff I'd like to see in Barcelona are:
- PIcasso Museum
- Gaudi sites: Park Guell, Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila
- Las Ramblas/Columbus monument
- The Barri Gotic (see the Surdana dances on Sunday)
- A lot of night life/bar hopping
- Go to the beach
and of course there are other things like the citadel park, Santa Maria del mar, other Gaudi sites, Montjuic.
Any thoughts?
I am leaving in 2 days, so I'd love to hear your opinions :-).

Only 1 or 2 days unscheduled? Sad. Just let it happen. If you have an interesting conversation with a foreigner. It'll be worth it to run into him again. Hense; just flow with it.
I stopped at Seville almost by accident. Been here about ten years, off and on. Months at a time back in Texas.
Went to Quepos Costa Rica to change busses for Panamá. a Went to the National Park, the afternoon I arrived.
Got up at 6:30 to catch my bus. Said, "Self? I don't need a bus. I need an apartment."
Stayed 6 months.
But old friends and new family called me back,(in my heart)
to Sevile Spain. Ooops! Now I have a funky mucho Andeluz apartment. I can't move on.
I could never replace this!
Thank Gawd el dueña won't allow dogs. Then I couldn't travel my way.
Just flow with it. Don't book ahead.
have fun. learn anything.
nil schedulum
you're on a learning absorbtion trip.

Maybe as a side trip from Barcelona you'd enjoy visiting Dali's house: http://www.salvador-dali.org/museus/portlligat/en_index.html There's also an excellent museum in nearby Figueres. I visited both a couple of years ago and found them fascinating.Christian Dalera.

Go to the beachI guess it all depends on what do you plan to make in the beach and what type of weather you find OK to make it but it can be a bit cold to lie on the beach.
Regarding your question, you could consider to visit Córdoba (at least as a daytrip from Sevilla) while in Andalucía. You could also visit Carmona...
There many possible daytrips out of Barcelona (Girona, Montserrat, Tarragona...) so you could easily spend your extra time there too.
It depends somewhat in your interests and the departure point of your flight home.

Thanks so much guys! Looks like none of you suggested that YES I should go to MADRID for 2-3 days. :-).I agree; it's not going to be the best weather for the beaches. So yea, I'd probably skip them.
I arrive in Barcelona and my return flight is also from Barcelona.
If I were to go to Madrid, this is how my itinerary would look like:
BARCELONA
I reach Barcelona Thursday (15th) afternoon.
Spend 3.5 days in Barcelona and..
MADRID
Leave for Madrid Monday (19th) morning.
Spend 2 days in Madrid and..
SEVILLE
Leave for Seville Wednesday morning.
AVE: Found tickets as cheap as 33.90€ from Madrid to Seville, so that's totally doable. Takes around 2hes 30mins.
GRANADA
Leave for Granada Saturday morning.
Drive from Seville to Granada, it's only 2hrs 30mins drive.
And then back to..
BARCELONA
Come back to Monday (26th) morning. Spend one more day.
Tuesday morning, return flight from Barcelona.
But let's see.. I might just go with the flow.. and maybe skip Madrid :-)
Thanks so much for replying everyone !!!

I like Madrid a lot,but with your very limited time time,I wouldn't go all the way there as well (even if it is somewhat between your other destinations).Also...for me the best thing about the city are the museums and art.If you are not into those at all, that leaves you with some very good food, bars, nightlife etc....all of which you also have in your other destinations.
BTW can't you get an open jaw ticket instead of having to return to Barcelona?

In order to make the most of your timeframe, I would fly from Barcelona to Sevilla and I would take the overnight train from Granada to Barcelona (or a flight) on the way back.BTW, you don't need to drive for Sevilla to Granada at all unless you want to visit places along the route. There are direct trains and buses from Sevilla to Granada.
