bus or train between Berlin and Prague
I posted a similar question in the Eastern European thread, then realized that the bus company I'm asking about is (presumably) German so this might be a better place for it. My query: would you recommend the train or the Berlin Linien bus for a trip between Berlin and Prague? The bus is a lot cheaper, but I'm willing to pay for the train if the bus will be unpleasant. It looks like they take about the same amount of time. Any recommendations welcome! Thanks.2
If you book well in advance (up to 92 days allowed) on the German Rail site, you can get a Europa-Spezial Tschechien fare as low as €29.00 on direct EC trains between Berlin and Prague.3
Really, Timothysolberg? I saw that there was a reasonably-priced "savings fare," but the little info box about savings fares said "Combination only possible with BahnCard 25," which made little sense to me but I figured was supposed to indicate that I had to have a discount card to get that rate. Is it actually available to just anybody?5
The Deutsche Bahn special tickets can be found under "Europa-Spezial" (where it says from 39 €, but from Berlin it's actually from 29 €). The best deal if you can get it.We haven't tried Berlin Linienbus, but the Hungarian bus company Orangeways (http://www.orangeways.com), which also has frequent buses passing Prague. Online tickets are cheap and hassle-free, and the bus was comfortable.

"Combination only possible with BahnCard 25
If you would own a BahnCard 25 you just have to pay EUR 21,75 (25% discount) instead of EUR 29,00. If you would own a BahnCard 50 you'll get no discount on thus special fares (but 50% on the standard fare). This is what the notice is about. The EUR 29,00 tickets are available to anybody - as long they are not already sold out. Don't think the buses are unpleasant. But are just buses. You're required to use seat belts. While on a train you can move around freely. E.g. visiting the restaurant car. On this route there are 2 further advantages

Last month I travelled from Berlin ZOB to Prague Florence via Dresden by Eurolines (Touring). Fare was €39, duration less than 5 hours, very comfortable. I found two buses a day for this sector, may be there are more but I don't know. I could have spent a night at Dresden though.https://www.eurolines.de

Abalada is right about the scenery on the train between Dresden and Prague - it is stunning for around 90 minutes. Sit on the left hand side of the train as it pulls out of Berlin. I took this trip a few weeks back and for €39 it is good value.Orangeways are also OK but they played a video on my journey and the sound was in the bus - not through headphones - and was annoying to me.
